Cord

They say that the "cord" is the representation of the Holy Rosary's Loop. Its made of Satin or Silk or Cotton. Unity or Union is the most prominent meaning of the Cord, it binds the man and woman closely together. Since it was formed into figure eight it also symbolizes unending or eternal love.

We bought this cord in Gaisano Mall, the lowest we seen. Even thou that a sponsor pledges to give us a cord (the pledge came after buying the cord) we will still use this cord in our wedding.

Church

29 August 2013

Being the center of Catholic Faith of Region 10, Cagayan de Oro is a home of numerous beautiful churches. That is why we had a hard time choosing our ceremony venue.

Our first choice and the bride’s dream ceremony venue is the chapel of Our Lady of Guadalupe which is located in Xavier Estates. Unfortunately, the chapel only caters to those homeowners and its immediate family members. Since bride and I is neither, we were declined by the chaplaincy.

Second choice was Our Lady of Fatima Chapel in Velez St. We are in luck for the few weeks but they also declined us because they will have a TV mass every Sunday morning and they have to close the chapel every Saturday afternoon for all preparations.

Third choice was ECO Church in Kauswagan. They did not accept our reservations by saying that we should wait until September for they will still determine the church’s activities. Unfortunately, due to unknown reason and reasoning, they accepted other couple’s reservation even before September.

Fourth choice is the Church of Our Lady of Fatima in Brgy. Camaman-an. Even before I reached its gates, I found myself praying “Mommy Fatima?! Why are you calling me here?”

I asked the Parish Secretary if our desired date is open and she said "yes". So I immediately asked for a copy of list of requirements. On 03 of September 2013 we placed our reservation making this church as our official venue. Come next day for our initial interview we just found out that many couples desired our date thus we are so glad that we are the first one to get the 4pm slot. Recalling what my heart prayed last 29th of August, I heard again my heart sing in praise "Thank you Lord, Thank you Mommy Fatima".

He lead us into this Place. This is truly a God’s gift to us. We might not understand His wisdom but we do believe that He will grant us Understanding. Thank You Mommy Fatima for interceding for us.

Arrhae

One wedding symbol is the Arrhae or localy called “arras”. It symbolizes the Groom’s providence to the bride and to their future family.

It’s my commitment to my bride that “Anything that is mine is yours and what’s yours is yours alone”. It’s our mission to be good stewards of all God’s gifts, to be a provider to all our children’s needs and we will help each other.

Many asked how many coins the arrhae should contain. I answered “13!” then I jokingly add “12 months in a year plus the 13th month pay”. Other answers that its 13 because there are 12 disciples plus Jesus Christ thus a total of 13. Each coin symbolizes the following: Love, Wisdom, Discipline, Spirituality, Optimism, Forgiveness, Trust, Gentleness, Gratitude, Respect, Integrity, Passion and Perseverance.

Our Arrhae is composed of 13 pieces of one Euro coins and a metal mesh bag. The Euro coins are collected by the Matron-of-Honor and her husband. Thank you so much Stephen and Cleo for the Euro Coins and sorry for the inconvenience. The metal mesh bag was bought in Gaisano Mall. We chosen the metal mesh bag over other designs simply because it will coincide with our travel theme.
